TOPIK Level 1–2

Beginner Korean

Start from zero. Master the Hangul alphabet, essential grammar patterns and everyday vocabulary — enough to introduce yourself, handle simple daily situations, and pass TOPIK Level 1.

How to Get Your Korea Student Visa

Choose Your Programme

Select a language institute (어학원) or university in South Korea. Check their TOPIK requirements before applying.

Achieve TOPIK Score

Pass TOPIK Level 1–2 (language school) or Level 3–4 (university). Speak Global Academy prepares you for both.

Apply via Institution

Receive your Letter of Acceptance (입학허가서) from the Korean institution after successful application.

Apply for D-4 Visa

Apply for the Korean Student Visa (D-4 for language school, D-2 for university) at the South Korean Embassy in Colombo.

The Global Korea Scholarship (GKS / 정부초청외국인장학금) opens applications annually in February–March. Start your Korean studies at least 9–12 months before the deadline to achieve TOPIK Level 2+ in time. Speak Global Academy will help you plan your study schedule to hit this target.

Frequently Asked Questions

1What Korean level is required for a South Korea student visa?

Language institutes require TOPIK Level 1–2. Universities require TOPIK Level 3+. The GKS scholarship requires TOPIK Level 2 or above.

2Do I learn Hangul from scratch?

Yes. The Beginner course starts from absolute zero — you will master all Hangul characters in the first two weeks.

3Can I take classes online?

Yes. We offer live online Korean classes via Zoom as well as in-person sessions at our Kurunegala centre.

4How long from zero to TOPIK Level 3?

On our track (Beginner → Intermediate), you can reach TOPIK Level 3 readiness in approximately 8–9 months, studying 2–3 sessions per week.

5When is the TOPIK exam held?

The TOPIK exam is held multiple times per year. In Sri Lanka, it is administered through authorised testing centres. We help students plan their exam schedule.
